Professional Photo Restoration

Photo restoration is the delicate art of reviving aged, damaged, or faded photographs—preserving cherished memories that time has worn down. Through meticulous digital techniques, tears are mended, stains are lifted, and missing details are reconstructed with care. Whether it's a sepia-toned portrait from the early 1900s or a sun-bleached snapshot from the '70s, restoration brings clarity and dignity back to the image.

Services

We offer restoration of Black and White images and can add color using reference materials and artistic intuition, black-and-white photos are transformed with lifelike hues—skin tones, clothing, landscapes, and even subtle lighting are reimagined to reflect the era and emotion. This process doesn't just enhance the image—it reconnects viewers with the moment, making the past feel present.

Information - "How To"

Assess condition: Restoration is ideal for prints with fading, discoloration, scratches, or minor tears. Severely damaged prints may still be restorable but note any concerns when submitting.

Provide context: If possible, include notes about the photo (date, people, event) to guide the restoration process and ensure authenticity.

Preparing and Packaging Prints

  • Handle with care: Wash and dry your hands before touching prints. Avoid bending or stacking them under heavy objects.

  • Protective sleeves: Place each print in an archival photo sleeve or acid‑free envelope to prevent further damage.

  • Flat packaging: Use sturdy cardboard mailers or flat boxes rather than envelopes that could bend. Add extra padding (bubble wrap or tissue) around the prints.

Submitting Prints to DMN Photography

  • Include instructions: Add a short note describing the restoration goals (e.g., “remove scratches,” “restore color,” “repair torn corner”).

  • Digital option: If you have high‑resolution scans, you may submit them electronically. This can speed up the process and reduce shipping risks.

  • Shipping: Use a reliable carrier with tracking. Mark the package “Photographs—Do Not Bend.”

  • Confirmation: Once received, DMN Photography will contact you to confirm delivery.  If I have questions, I will contact you to discuss restoration details before work begins.
