Lower Cascades, Hanging Rock, NC 0584

This past weekend, I decided to visit Hanging Rock State Park, located in the Piedmont region of North Carolina. I was excited to photograph several waterfalls, with a particular focus on the Lower Cascades for this trip.

The hike to the Lower Cascades was relatively easy compared to the more challenging hikes to Window and Hidden Falls. The trail wound through dense forests, and I kept an eye on the lighting, worried that I might miss the golden hour and have to compete with others for the view.

When we arrived, the golden hour bathed the landscape in warm hues. I was truly impressed by the 35-foot drop of the falls and the beautiful pool at the base—it was amazing! Additionally, my wife and I were thrilled to enjoy almost an hour of uninterrupted time to capture the falls from various perspectives since we were the only ones there.

We both agreed that the Lower Cascades quickly became our favorite spot at Hanging Rock. I hope you enjoyed these images!
